HONG KONG -- The Law of the People's Republic of China on Safeguarding National Security in the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) will help effectively punish crimes endangering national security and restore stability in Hong Kong, former Secretary for Justice of the HKSAR government Elsie Leung Oi-sie said in a recent interview with Xinhua.

KUALA LUMPUR -- Malaysia's ruling Perikatan Nasional (PN) coalition won its first by-election by a landslide on Saturday since coming to power in March.
The candidate from United Malay National Organization (UMNO) that representing PN defended its Chini state-assembly seat in Pahang state, drawing 13,872 votes while two competing independent candidates obtained 1,222 and 137 votes respectively, the Election Commission said. (Malaysia-By Election)

NEW DELHI -- India's federal health ministry Saturday morning said 442 new deaths due to COVID-19, besides fresh 22,771 positive cases, were reported during the past 24 hours across the country, taking the number of deaths to 18,655 and total cases to 648,315.
